We suggest using a high-quality, fabric-lined jewellery box to protect your gold jewellery from potential scratching and damage. Rings should be stored on ring rolls, necklaces on individual hooks or in pockets, earrings in tabs or compartments, bracelets in larger compartments, and bangles in a zip pouch.

When cleaned regularly and worn with proper care, it is possible to wear gold chains on a daily basis without the risk of damage or loss of shine. With proper care and storage, pure gold jewellery can last a lifetime, while gold-plated jewellery can last up to 30 years.

To ensure the longevity of your precious gold piece, wash off any makeup, moisturiser or sunscreen residue after wearing. Removing your necklace at night will also help prevent tangling and breaking.

Yes, Cerrone specialises in custom-made jewellery and handles the entire handcrafted jewellery-making process in-house. You can bring in your ideas and sketches, or collaborate with a talented in-house designer to conceptualise and visualise your design. You can also base your design on an existing piece displayed in a Cerrone shop in Sydney or Melbourne.

When selecting the appropriate chain thickness for your cherished pendant or beloved charm, it’s important to consider the size and weight of the piece. For a larger pendant requiring more support, choose chains with a heavier and wider gauge, as they are designed to carry more weight. Elegant curb chains, cable chains and exquisite trace chains, for example, typically feature robust clasps like lobster or trigger clasps for added strength.

Conversely, a beautifully small and lightweight pendant will work well with a fine pendant chain that features a bolt ring clasp. Aesthetically speaking, it’s important to ensure the pendant is balanced and proportional to the chain.

To ensure the longevity and lustre of your fine gold chains, proper care and maintenance is essential. A combination of at-home and professional cleaning methods will allow you to regularly restore the shine of your pieces all year-round.

Proper care and mindful usage are key to preserving your gold jewellery, whether it’s a fine white gold necklace or a yellow gold curb chain. Removing your chains during strenuous activity and avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals is essential to ensuring the longevity of your pieces. Appropriate jewellery box storage is just as important to prevent scratches and entanglement.

Although consistent cleaning and proper storage can preserve the lustre of white gold necklaces and other fine gold chains, we recommend scheduling an annual professional inspection and cleaning.

A skilled jeweller can not only restore your treasured items to their initial splendour but also detect any potential problems with gemstone settings, offering repairs as needed.

At Cerrone, we provide complimentary yearly cleaning and examination services for Cerrone customers and their Cerrone jewellery. Just visit one of our boutiques with your bespoke Cerrone pieces to enjoy continued free cleaning assistance.

Gold necklaces and bracelets come in various chain link styles and designs, ranging from simple and elegant to intricate and eye-catching. Classic chains include:

    • Curb: A classic oval shape with flattened links that twist, available in both robust and fine chains
    • Belcher: Uniform circles with flat edges interlocking, offering a timeless, classic look
    • Cuban: A variation of the curb link, with closely packed links creating a woven look
    • Box: Crafted by joining small squares in an alternating pattern, offering a clean and minimalist appearance
    • Anchor/Marine: Oval links with a vertical bar in the centre, providing strength for heavy pendants
    • Trace: Comprising of fine, small, round or oval-shaped links, this is one of the most delicate chain styles.

Other beloved gold chain styles include Rope, Snake, Figaro, Byzantine and Cable.

Choosing the right chain length for your necklace is an essential part of balancing aesthetic elegance with a comfortable, cosy fit. For women, necklaces are typically sold in even-centimetre lengths, with each length sitting at a different position on the body. For men, standard necklace lengths follow the same pattern but are generally longer to accommodate larger neck sizes. To help you select an appropriate chain length, consider the following guidelines:

Women’s Necklace Lengths:

  • 40cm Necklace: Falls around the base of the neck, near the collarbone
  • 45cm Necklace: A popular choice, sitting elegantly on the collarbone
  • 50cm Necklace: Falls just below the collarbone
  • 55cm Necklace: Falls at or just above the top of the bust

Men’s Necklace Lengths:

  • 45cm Necklace: Rests at the neck’s base (suitable for smaller neck sizes)
  • 50cm Necklace: Extends to the collarbone (typical length for average-sized men)
  • 55cm Necklace: Drops several centimetres below the collarbone
  • 60cm Necklace: Falls just over the sternum

When you visit a Cerrone boutique, our team of professionals can measure your desired necklace length in-store and provide customised sizing to help you find the perfect piece.
